I have never really been one for resolutions (I’m still working on the ones I set for myself three years ago) but when a friend told me that she was going to try and complete the 2024 Reading Challenge I thought, why not?
I initially expected it to be a pretty standard task, read so many books during this year, but this challenge is smarter than that and instead requires you to push your boundaries a little. The challenge consists of twelve different tasks including reading a book you can finish in a day, a book that was banned at some point, or a book you own but have never actually read.
I am currently working on a book I previously abandoned, task nine in the list. Last time I started to read it, about six years ago, I got to page eight. I can see the pattern already forming – beginning this challenge so optimistically like doing all of your course readings the first week of university, but come March I will have forgotten all about it. But I am going to try my hardest to persevere and attempt to keep you updated on my progress. In the meantime, why not give it a go yourself?
